Think warm thoughts with the Des Moines Home & Garden Show

6 Feb

Tired of the winter weather? Then come to the Iowa Events Center to get a taste of spring and summer at the Des Moines Home & Garden show this week! I don’t know about you, but all the snow and ice we got this weekend it just makes me even more ready for warmer weather!

If you have never been to the Des Moines Home & Garden show before, you are missing out. This four day landscaping, interior decorating, idea brewing show inspires all guests to get a head start on their plans for the spring and summer. The show kicks off this Thursday, February 9, at noon with the local Isiserettes drill and drumming corps lively performance. Those young ones sure know how to put on a show!

Admission for the show starts at $11 and can be purchased at all Dahl’s Food Locations and the Wells Fargo Arena Box Office. But, if you purchase your tickets online at www.DesMoinesHomeandGardenShow.com then you can save $2! Children 7-12 are $4 and kids under 6 are FREE.

The show will be open through Sunday, February 12, and it will feature hundreds of creative and trend-setting ideas for your home and various celebrity expert speakers like HGTV’s John Gidding from the show “Curb Appeal.” If that doesn’t make you want to come and check out the show then you have to come for Hal Davis’ Pimp My Shed display. Davis, of Room Service Distinctive Interiors, has returned to the show this year with a great display that shows how to transform typical boring sheds into pieces of art using unexpected textures, materials and forms.

If you are more of a gardener than an interior decorator then you have to check out the Loki’s Garden booth in the Hy-Vee Hall lobby. There you will find a wide array of plants that are sure to fit every gardener’s needs. PLUS the first 100 visitors each day will receive a FREE Coleus. Talk about getting a kick start on planting season.

Old things will find a new purpose at the new Junk Jamboree booth and the new Made in Iowa shops will allow visitors to stock up on all things Iowa- this show loves to support the locals. If you need a break from walking around this large event then you can stop in the Wine Village and sample and purchase Iowa wines from all over the state.

There is so much to see at this show and it is just starting to load in today! Get ready to find fresh ideas, smart advice for gardening, home improvement ideas, decorating and much more at the Des Moines Home & Garden Show this weekend from February 9-12.

We hope to see you there!
